The Association "Romanian Society of Preventive Medicine" (RSPM) is a non-political, non-profit, professional-scientific association of specialist doctors, primary care physicians, and residents in any medical specialty, with recognized clinical and scientific activity in their respective fields, and constant concerns in the field of screening and prevention of various conditions.
The aim of the association is to promote and support the concept of preventive medicine at the national level, to improve and implement national-scale screening and early diagnostic programs in all medical specialties, to scientifically advocate for vaccination programs, healthy nutrition, sports, and oral health as a way of life and harmonious development for young people, pregnant women, and the general population.
The association's objective is the national implementation of screening in Romania, to achieve preventive, predictive, personalized, and participatory medicine, which can lead to disease prevention, particularly advanced stages of diseases, risk prediction, health promotion, and well-being.
The activities of the society converge on FUNDAMENTAL RESEARCH (developing new methods of screening, diagnosis, and therapy), CLINICAL MEDICINE (practicing preventive medicine in all specialties), and PUBLIC HEALTH (implementing programs).
RSPM's actions are directed towards informing and educating the population about health, improving the standards of medical practice through continuous medical education programs for medical staff, supporting legislative proposals for the implementation of national screening and early diagnostic programs, restoring functionality/establishing the National Cancer Registry, the National Screening Registry, the National Registry of Fetal Anomalies, the National Genetic Cancer Registry, as well as supporting the National Registry of Rare Diseases.
RSPM advocates for the implementation and expansion of national screening programs, remodeling them to focus on the rural population, ensuring the population-based nature of screening, using individual invitations through the screening registry or databases connected to the population registry, including a fixed date for the call in the invitation, and providing continuous services for positive cases.
The association supports the establishment of regional screening centers with financial autonomy, dedicated personnel, well-individualized locations, and equipment exclusively dedicated to screening programs, based on standardized guidelines and mechanisms of medical practice that ensure quality in accordance with European guidelines.
