Event date: 30 Nov -1

The Romanian Society of Preventive Medicine (SRPM) and the Romanian Society of HPV are delighted to announce the success of the first HPV Prevention Summit: Screening and Vaccination, held on June 19, 2024 at the Palace of Parliament, Avram Iancu Hall. The event brought together renowned medical experts, decision-makers, representatives of civil society, best practice models, and industry representatives to develop effective strategies for preventing cervical cancer through screening and vaccination.

Event Achievements

The Summit featured seven plenary sessions over 10 hours and was attended by 21 prestigious speakers and 256 participants, both online and physically. Since its inception, the SRPM has strongly advocated for the implementation of screening programs. As a result of these efforts, on June 5th, the Ministry of Health published the screening methodology for cervical cancer. However, the SRPM aims for more ambitious objectives, focusing on establishing integrated screening centers.

Dr. Roxana Bohîl?ea, President of the SRPM, presented the SRPM's national screening plan, which includes the implementation of integrated screening centers for cervical, breast, colorectal, prostate, and lung cancers, in accordance with European Union recommendations.
